The founders of the company William Winsor and Henry Newton, introduced moist water colours in the 1830’s. Since then Winsor & Newton have been proud of their reputation for supreme quality. Generally tube colours are preferred by artists using large quantities of colour, whilst pans find favour with outdoor sketchers and artists using smaller quantities of colour.
