FlasheVinyl.gif The LeFranc Flashe Vinyl range, introduced in the mid-fifties, is one of the first modern painting materials to give artists other possibilities than oil painting. Unlike acrylic paints, which are formulated with acrylic polymers, Flashe paints are vinyl based. They are similar to cell animation vinyl paints. Flashe gives a finish that no other technique can provide, whether it is oils, acrylics, or even tempera and watercolor paints. Often compared with egg tempera or casein paint, Flashe combines the mattness and opacity of tempera and the indelibility and adherence to all supports that acrylics provide. Painting with Flashe is a technique all on its own! Flashe can be thinned with water and mixed with cell animation vinyl paint. It is very opaque and has very high hiding power. Colors can be layered on top of one another; and all colors are intermixable. When diluted with water, Flashe will give a watercolor like effect; but the color is insoluble when dry
